John Bounds, a long-time follower of the WordCamp UK mailing list has been avidly working away in the background to get some sort of social event organised for the evening of the 19th of July (Saturday).
He has just confirmed that the Official WordCamp UK bash has been booked at The Old Royal, Church St, Birmingham and will run between 8-11 (bar). He has kindly sorted out a private room upstairs with it’s own bar.
He is also looking at various options for entertainment, including DJ’s and potentially a geeky quiz (could be a-lot of fun!). Stay tuned for more information on this to come, including potential prizes up for grabs!
Good work John, make sure you buy him a drink everyone!

Hi Jonnya, great move and hope this bring all together a little more .
I’d like to see a list of where is everyone staying. There is so much choice in places to stay I wouldnt want to miss out on something being in a hotel away from it all !
Good point! There has been a few people talking about where they are staying on the mailing list, and there’s some suggestions on the wiki.
I will have a good think about how to best implement this - why don’t you throw the idea out to the mailing list?
