If you’ve any spare time over the weekend in Birmingham, you might want to pop across to Chamberlain Square (by the Town Hall), where this giant sandpit (”beach” they say) has appeared.The polar bear dispenses ice cream, yum.
A short hop away in Centenary Square there’s a huge roller-disco too.

Birmingham’s “golden mile”, Broad St, is awash with the sort of chain bars (Australians, Vodka Revolutions etc) that I like to avoid, but it’s not a bad place if you wish to indulge. Here are a few other city centre establishments that offer something a little different:
